METROPOLITAN CHURCH OF AGIA TRIADA

Built on the relics of an older church in 1724. In 1770, the Turks destroyed it. Then on the wooden bridge- stone bridge today- Metropolite Yoakum was hanged and 300 eminents of the island were slaughter at the port.

In 1835 the church started to built again. The money was given by the ship masters of Lemnos island.

Very rich is the internal area and the wood curved temple really impressed.

 

TEMPLE OF AGIOS GEORGIOS (REPANIDI-MOUDROS)

The old temple of Agios Georgios in Repanidi (Municipality of Moudros) is a cemetery church, declared as a historic preserved monument. Is a typical example of post-Byzantine Basilica with new classical influences. The sources report as establishment year 1860. This type of church is typical of ecclesiastic architecture of post-Byzantine era in Lemnos. Very beautiful is the wooden temple of the church, that reflects the high standards of those people that created it. The turrets of the temple has representations of flowers, with bright colors, the icons show the unique craft of the people that made them, a technique that developed in Lemnos and all the North Aegean islands.

TEMPLE OF ANNUNCIATION OF VIRGIN MARY

 This magnificent church is built in Moudros. Is a basilica with narthex and various morphological features at the facade. Exciting is the huge rose window and the belfry towers.  The interior decoration of the church is really impressing. Outside there is a chased beautiful entrance with date 1904, that shows the year of erection.
